Alternative Processes
This class introduces students to unconventional photographic processes. Students will explore historic and
contemporary methods of making photographs that allow extension of photographic imagery beyond the
standard black and white or color print. The class will experiment with handmade emulsions and papers on
different surfaces and materials that can create unique visual effects with or without a camera that can
incorporate photographic imagery into new and varied contexts such as drawings, paintings and mixed media.
